Carlsbad, California Area

Carlsbad, California - Great beaches, fabulous shopping, restaurants with character, two world-class destination resorts, LEGOLAND Resort California and SEA LIFE Aquarium, make Carlsbad the preferred year-round vacation destination. Often referred to as "The Village by the Sea," Carlsbad combines the charm of a European village with the laid-back manner of a beach town that hasn't yet gone commercial. Along the beach bluff near the Village is a seawall walkway that is popular with joggers and walkers. On a clear day, the view from the seawall extends south to La Jolla and north past the Oceanside pier to the sweeping bluffs and mountains of Camp Pendleton.
If you simply want to relax and recharge your inner soul, you can soak up the sun on the beach or take nature walks around the lagoons. Or enjoy a leisurely stroll on the seawall walkway below the beach bluffs. After browsing in delightful boutiques and antique shops or just relaxing over lunch at a sidewalk cafe, you will succumb to Carlsbad's charms.

The Museum of Making Music—A Division of the NAMM Foundation
Founded in 1998 under NAMM’s organizational umbrella and with its sponsorship, the Museum of Making Music explores the multifaceted history of the American music products industry from its beginnings in the 1890s to today. Housed at NAMM Headquarters in Carlsbad, California (north San Diego county), the Museum tells stories of hard work, challenge, inspiration and pioneering innovation, and reveals the profound relationship between the industry, popular music, and global culture. The Museum serves as a resource for the community of NAMM members through the preservation, interpretation and sharing of the industry’s collective history in a public museum context. In addition, it reveals the unique and often unknown story of the music products industry to the general public. And, through intimate concerts, films, discussions, hands-on workshops, volunteer opportunities and programs for underserved youth, the Museum opens doors to enable people of all ages and walks of life to find their way into the richly kaleidoscopic world of music making.

Carlsbad Historical Society
The Carlsbad Historical Society was established in 1975 to preserve, promote, and enhance knowledge of the surrounding area's history, significant landmarks, institutions and memorabilia. We are a non-profit organization dedicated to reaching out to the community through educational as well as social events. Our museum and archives are located in The Magee House, at 258 Beech Ave. The museum portion is furnished in a turn of the century style which reflects the life style of the early settlers of Carlsbad who once owned the house. Also, displays of Carlsbad and the surrounding agricultural community are housed here in order to educate the public during the tours. Our historical gardens feature a nationally registered Rose Garden, in addition to a Victorian Herb bed, a native Southern Californian bed, a Carlsbad commercial growers bed and a Patriotic Red, White and Blue bed.

Carlsbad Flower Fields
For over sixty years, Mother Nature has transformed the rolling hills of North San Diego County into one of the most spectacular and coordinated displays of natural color and beauty anywhere in the world. The nearly fifty acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers that make up The Flower Fields® at Carlsbad Ranch, in Carlsbad, California, are in a full bloom for approximately six to eight weeks each year - from early March through early May - literally bringing the famous fields back to life. This annual burst of color, which has become part of the area's local heritage, is also one of nature's official ways of announcing the arrival of spring here in Southern California.
